Virtual Opening Day

Parents and Friends:

First and foremost, we hope this email finds you, your family, and your friends all healthy and safe. With both the state and federal governments extending the "stay at home" order due to COVID-19 until April 30, we thought a quick update on our baseball plans is in order. Of course, we will continue to follow the guidelines of local, state, and federal officials and keep you updated on any changes as they occur.  So Whiteford Baseball will remain suspended until at least April 30, and we will update you on further plans as we get closer to that date.

Let us assure you: It IS our intention to play baseball this Spring/Summer. When that will start, how long it will last, and what it will look like are yet to be decided, but our goal remains to help you and your kids get back to normal, and baseball is a big part of that.  We miss being at the park and seeing all of you cheer on your kids as they do exactly that -- act like kids.  We want that back soon.

As we come to our original Opening Day this Saturday, April 4, I'm sure everyone is wishing our baseball season could start.  No one wishes that more than us. Well, we can't gather and do that in person, but we can gather on social media and have Whiteford Baseball's First "Virtual Opening Day."

What we ask is that Saturday, April 4, you and your kids put on your Whiteford gear -- put on a whole uniform if you like -- then snap a pic and upload it to our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.  Be creative!  Funny shots, action shots, short videos, or pics of you doing your everyday tasks wearing Whiteford gear. No Whiteford gear?  Put on any ballcap and upload a pic.

Use the hastags #WhitefordOpeningDay and #InThisTogether, and let's show the Joliet area and everyone around social media that this virus has not stopped the Whiteford "Bulldog" spirit.

You can find us at theses links on Facebook, on Twitter, or on Instagram. Post your Whiteford pics for our "Virtual Opening Day!"

Here's to hoping we have our real Opening Day very soon!
